Over-Extrusion and Blobs Fix Guide

Diagnose blobs, zits, overfilled walls, rough seams, swollen details, and poor dimensional accuracy from flow, pressure, temperature, retraction, and filament issues.

Symptoms

  • Blobs or zits on outer walls
  • Corners look swollen
  • Details look overfilled
  • Seams are very obvious
  • Dimensions are oversized

Likely causes

  • Flow/extrusion multiplier too high
  • Temperature too high
  • Pressure advance not tuned
  • Retraction or wipe behavior mismatch
  • Wet filament causing inconsistent extrusion

Fast checks before changing settings

  • Print a flow test or wall thickness test
  • Lower temperature carefully
  • Check seam settings
  • Use Filament Advisor if surface is also fuzzy
  • Change one slicer variable at a time

Safe fix path

  1. Check filament condition
  2. Run a flow test
  3. Tune temperature
  4. Tune seam/retraction behavior
  5. Save known-good profile
