Temperature numbers are starting ranges, not guarantees. Dryness, printer design, hotend, nozzle, speed and filament brand all matter.

Good for: Easy detail and display prints

Watch for: Heat creep, brittle old filament, weak high-temperature performance

225–250°CPETG

Good for: Tougher functional and outdoor-adjacent parts

Watch for: Stringing, moisture, excess first-layer squish

210–240°CTPU

Good for: Flexible parts and impact absorption

Watch for: Feed-path buckling, stringing, excessive speed

240–270°CABS / ASA

Good for: Heat resistance and stronger outdoor use

Watch for: Warping, fumes, enclosure and ventilation needs

Drying comes before retraction

Popping, steam, rough surfaces and heavy stringing can come from moisture. Extreme retraction changes will not make wet filament dry.

Respect machine limits

High-temperature and enclosed-material workflows require compatible hotend components, ventilation and manufacturer-safe operating limits.
