Weak Layer Adhesion Fix Guide

Fix prints that snap, split, delaminate, or fail under light load by checking material temperature, cooling, wall count, print orientation, and filament condition.

Symptoms

  • Parts split along layer lines
  • Functional prints snap too easily
  • Tall prints crack while cooling
  • Walls separate under pressure
  • Layer bonding changes from one spool to another

Likely causes

  • Nozzle temperature too low
  • Cooling too aggressive for material
  • Incorrect orientation for load direction
  • Too few walls or weak infill strategy
  • Wet or degraded filament

Fast checks before changing settings

  • Check material temperature range
  • Compare a warmer test print
  • Review part orientation against real load
  • Increase wall count before overusing infill
  • Check filament condition

Safe fix path

  1. Identify load direction
  2. Increase temperature carefully
  3. Reduce cooling if material allows
  4. Use more walls/perimeters
  5. Save a strength profile after test
