◆Begin with the material baseline
Start near the middle of the 70–85°C range unless your filament or plate specifies another value. Use a simple first-layer test and keep nozzle temperature, speed, flow, and Z offset fixed while you judge the bed change.
◆If PETG releases too easily
Clean the build surface, verify the correct plate is selected in the slicer, and inspect first-layer height before adding heat. If calibration is already good, a modest bed-temperature increase can help maintain contact.
◆If PETG sticks too hard
Do not keep increasing bed heat. PETG can bond aggressively to some PEI surfaces. Follow the plate maker's material guidance and use the PETG sticks too much to PEI workflow when removal is difficult or the surface is at risk.
◆Watch the first-layer shape
A first layer that is too low can smear PETG and create ridges or material buildup around the nozzle. If you see blobs, inspect calibration and use the PETG first-layer blobs guide instead of assuming the bed is too cold.
◆Heat is not the only warping control
If corners lift, also inspect drafts, part footprint, layer cooling, first-layer speed, and plate cleanliness. A hotter bed can help, but it will not correct contamination or an unstable environment by itself.
◆Tune for the actual plate
Textured PEI, smooth PEI, glass, and coated plates can need different first-layer strategies. Treat 70–85°C as a starting range, then follow the plate manufacturer's material guidance and your printer's supported temperature limits.
