Step 1

Remove supports and obvious nubs with appropriate cutting tools.

Step 2

Wear suitable respiratory and eye protection and control dust.

Step 3

Start with the least aggressive grit that removes the defect.

Step 4

Sand in controlled directions and protect crisp edges.

Step 5

Progress through finer grits after the previous scratches are uniform.

Step 6

Use wet sanding only when the material and cleanup method permit it.

Step 7

Clean and dry the part completely before filler or primer.

Step 8

Test coatings on scrap before finishing the final model.
